Contemorary Rim Lock
Rim locks were traditionally used to lock doors before mortice locks and are a great way to add real character to any door or home. Although often seen in period homes in aged and antique finishes, rim locks can also be made in contemporary finishes (such as this chrome one) to suit modern décor.
The rim lock in the photo is the QL B-106 Bathroom Rim Lock in polished chrome and the door knob is the CR 1754-R Oval Rim Knob in dark bronze metal antique.
Rim locks have to be fitted with “rim knobs”, rather than standard knobs. The difference is that rim knobs only have a rose on one side. The other side has no rose and the knob is fixed to the spindle, as this slots directly into the rim lock.
These rim locks are also available in a range of other styles and finishes - including polished and aged brass, chrome, nickel, wrought iron and even real bronze - with door knobs to match.
